The High Court assigned to adjudicate all cases filed in respect of the bribery scandal revealed by ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye P I, will today begin sitting.

Court begins sitting today
A Justice of the Court of Appeal, sitting as an additional High Court Judge, has been appointed to handle all the cases filed so far in respect of the scandal, the judicial service in a statement said.

According to press release, the service has been able to identify eighty (80) court staff who were alleged to have been involved in the acts of corruption. It also added that the names and photographs of fifteen (15) people from various institutions [Police Service, Prisons Service and the Attorney-General’s Department] who are alleged to have been involved in the bribery scandal will be released to their respective institutions.

It however stated that “two individuals have been identified as Private ‘Ball Contractors’".
The statement which was released last Friday indicated that, “As the disciplinary authority for junior staff, the Judicial Secretary has constituted two committees to investigate the various acts of misconduct.
One of the committees, it said, would begin sitting on Wednesday, September 23, 2015.
Meanwhile, the five-member body hearing impeachment petition filed by Anas Aremeyaw Anas against thirty-four (34) judges in Ghana has suspended its sitting because of multiple legal actions brought against it by some of the judges cited in the Anas video.

The journalist and his Tiger Eye team in a two-year undercover exercise ‘exposed’ 34 judges who were allegedly negotiating with agents including court clerks and police prosecutors to free suspects in robbery and murder cases.
