This follows reports from the Daily Guide Newspaper in its Friday, May 20 edition, that the suspect, Daniel Asiedu has reportedly claimed that he is now relying on his initial statement he gave to the police.

The paper reported that he had mentioned that he, and two other friends, were contracted by a Member of Parliament to commit the act.

But the Director of BNI, Pius Awelinga, has described the newspaper publication as false. Speaking during a meeting with a group of journalists from the Community Development Programme of ECOWAS in Accra on Friday, the Director of BNI said the BNI's involvement in the case is to only keep Daniel Asiedu in custody for the police.
