Murder suspect says nothing has changed in his BNI treatment

The suspect alleged to have murdered JB Danquah, the MP for Abuakwa North has told a circuit court nothing has changed since he made the complaint about how he was being treated at the BNI cells.

Suspect says someone is trying to kill him

According to the suspect, Daniel Asiedu, he is still been kept in the small box like prison without being given the opportunity to engage with other prisoners as ordered by the court in the last hearing. The suspect made these comments after the judge questioned him on how he was faring and the treatment being metered to him by the police.

Reacting to the issues raised by the suspect, police prosecutor Francis Baah denied the allegations leveled against them, insisting Daniel Asiedu's rights have continued to be protected adequately as required by the law.

Earlier this month, Asiedu complained to the judge, telling him he was only allowed to come out of his cell when he has to go use the washroom or take his bath. The suspect added he had made several complains about the treatment without any positive response.

The court in its ruling urged the police to ensure the rights of Daniel Asiedu and remanded him into BNI custody.

Police allege Asiedu stabbed the late MP at his Shiashie residence on February 9.
