Executives elect in the University of Ghana Student Representative Council (SRC) elections have been sworn-in under strict security arrangements. The ceremony which was attended by few people, took place at the SRC office (The Union Building) on Friday, May 8, 2015. The event had been delayed for about a month due to a petition hearing on the validity of the elected president. However, the five-member jury hearing the petition ruled later on during the petition hearing that the executive elect can be sworn-in whilst the legal process continues. Before the swearing-in event, Joshua Dogbe, the incumbent SRC president, had vowed not to hand over to Davis Ohene Fobi.Speaking on Radio Univers’ morning show, Campus Exclusive, on Friday, Mr. Dogbe said the ruling by the Judicial Board Panel was not valid.Meanwhile, sources tell us that carpenters were led by campus security personnel to the Union Building the day after the swearing-in to change the locks to the offices of the President and Vice President. It is however unclear why the locks are being changed.
