According to the resident pastor of the area, Pastor Jones Owusu Adjei, who spoke exclusively to pulse.com.gh, he invited Honourable Kyei Baffour to a program he had organized in his church when this unfortunate incident happened.

He said, “I was inside the church at the time it happened but according to eyewitnesses, the MP had just alighted from his car and was being ushered into the church auditorium for my program, so the driver decided to find somewhere to park the car - and that’s when it happened.”

Pastor Jones added : “It was very strange because the driver hadn’t moved even a meter. What I suspect or people telling me is the victim was with her sister and I’m sure they had gone to buy something and It is alleged that the girl might have dropped something under the car and she probably might have gone under the car to pick it when the unfortunate incident happened.”

The aggrieved pastor further revealed: “Actually what happened was purely an accident, it was not anybody’s fault, and I think I’m even aggrieved more than anybody because the little girl was named after me.”

According to him the Honourable Member of Parliament isn’t a member of the church as has been widely speculated, but rather an old friend of his who was visiting.

When pulse.com.gh enquired about the current status of the case, Pastor Jones said: “We are managing it and nobody can be more aggrieved than myself. The driver or whoever else cannot be blamed. Because the driver wasn’t speeding neither did he even move a meter so it is very strange.”

Pastor Jones then shed light on his relationship with the deceased.

“The victim’s mother is like a daughter to me and so the girl was named after me.”

He said the incident has greatly disturbed the Member of Parliament, leaving his distraught.

“Honorable is even grieving more than any of us. He is too sad and even I have had to  comfort him. His demeanor has changed.”
