“I am happy. I knew all along that they should not have taken this step but they did. The court has ruled in my favour. They did not have any other way of going around it so I am happy," she said.

The hospital last month announced her dismissalalong with four others after a forensic audit found them culpable of misappropriating over GHC 900, 000.

Elizabeth Bruce subsequently dragged the management of the hospital to the Human Rights Court for contempt and the court, on Thursday, ordered the hospital to reinstate her.

Meanwhile Chairman of the Korle-Bu Senior Staff Association, Charles Ofei-Palm has also welcomed the ruling, describing it as a step in the right direction.

He was however saddened that the hospital had still not learnt lessons from similar occurrences in the past.

“This is victory for rule of law but I am sad for Korle Bu because it seems it has not learnt anything from what happened last year because exactly a year ago, we staff of Korle Bu cried out to the President to have a new CEO and a year on, President Mahama listened to us.A successor from GIMPA was appointed a Board Chair and a year on you ask yourself what have we learnt?”
