The celebration of the global day to end violence against women and children yesterday was greeted with impunity in the Ellembelle district of the western region  when 28 year old Monica Kabenla and her husband whose name is only given as Emma whipped their 8-year-old niece  Rose Quesi Ebah with hot machete at Mauzukro a community near Essiama.The victim, whose parents are said to have all died some years ago is said to have accompanied a neighbor to farm but could not returned home early.

The opposition New Patriotic Party, NPP has concluded after its thorough investigation that the recent raid at the party headquarters was sponsored by the state.

According to the party, the state wanted to score a political point by causing "a scene of bloodbath" at the headquarters through the raid. Addressing the media in Accra Friday, Acting National Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay said “The NPP is in no doubt that the attack on our offices was conducted by the State, specifically, using certain rogue elements within the National Security set up”.

Businessman Herbert Mensah has sued Zanetor Rawlings in court to have access to his two children. According to Herbert Mensah, he wants to know the state of the two children – Zethe Maia Mensah and Rhia Lyza Mensah. The astute football administrator has filed a writ at the Juvenile Court (Suit No. A6/283/2016) against Dr Zanetor Rawlings, under Section 44 of the Children’s Act 1998, Act 560. The writ states: "Take notice that this honourable court will be moved by Nene Amegatcher, Esq Counsel for and on behalf of the Applicant herein praying this Honourable Court for an order giving the Applicant herein reasonable access to Zeithe Maia Mensah and Rhia Lyza Mensah.

Swansea forward Andre Ayew has suggested he could leave for a top Premier League club in January, with Liverpool keeping a close eye on him.
