The chicken you buy from the market is not as safe as you think

If you make frequent stops at where they sell chicken in the market you will appreciate what i am talking about.

I am all for cooking being made easier! For someone who loves to cook,  every innovation to simplify the cooking process is perfect for me.

But the chicken "innovation" leaves much to be desired. You will agree that the "life" chicken  as we call it is way tastier compared to the frozen chicken. So for those who appreciate taste in meals you will always opt for the one that is slaughtered and chopped.

The process is simple. You select  the chicken you want, hand it over to the vendor,  leave to pick up your other items from the market and by the time you come back your chicken is packed in a polythene bag ready to take away.

You only pay an additional  2 cedis for the process of preparation i.e from slaughtering to removing the feathers and internal organs chopping into pieces.

What you do not know is the process is a long way from being hygenic. The hot water use to remove the feathers is dirty the intestine of the chicken and even the water use to wash the chicken before the final chop is nothing to write home about.

You may want to find other means of slaughtering your chicken but if you don't mind this process in the markets too then enjoy your chicken!
