The Noguchi Memorial Institute for Research has confirmed there is Avian Influenza virus or Bird Flu in some birds in Ghana.
Out of six samples tested by the Institute, five of them proved positive for the bird flu virus.
An investigative team has been dispatched to the Kpone Katamanso district to quarantine some farms and restrict bird movements following reports of the outbreak of the deadly disease.
Meanwhile, a Professor of the Cambridge University, Derek Smith, has warned that the deadly bird flu virus is only two or three mutations away from being infectious between humans.
In its current form, avian flu can only be transmitted between birds and from birds to humans.
