Fashion designer jailed for attempting to steal from a bank

A 36-year- old male fashion designer has been sentenced to three years in prison by a Koforidua Circuit court, for attempting to cash an amount of 45,000 Ghana Cedis transferred to a customer by Western Union Money Transfer.

The convict, Husseini Adams who resides in Betom, Koforidua tried to recruit a staff of a financial institution during the early part of August to assist him cash monies belonging to other people that had been transferred by Western Union Money Transfer.

He had earlier illegally acquired the secret transfer code of such Western Union customers.

The witness feigned interest and was promised one-third of the amount should the deal go through.

The convict, on August 24, 2015, went to the financial institution to withdraw the money. The witness alerted the Eastern regional police and he was arrested.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was subsequently charged of attempting to commit crime, to wit stealing.
