CAGD Begins Head Count Of Teachers

The Controller and Accountant General Department has begun a headcount of all staff of the Ghana Education Service in order to eliminate ghost names on the public sector payroll.

This action follows the outrageous inflation of ghost names on government payroll.

In a statement signed by the Controller and Accountant-General, Mrs Grace Francisca Adzroe, the list of affected management units has been published on the CAGD website."CAGD wishes to inform the affected heads of departments and employees that a window of opportunity has been provided for the management units heads who did not validate their employees to do so between Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th January, 2015 to enable CAGD prepare a supplementary payroll for the affected employees for payment by 2nd February, 2015," the statement said.It added that "The validation and certification of the payment vouchers however is a mandatory requirement for payment of salaries of employees in a management unit."The CAGD has already advised the affected management unit heads of the opportunity to validate their employees for the month of January, 2015."

However, the department has served notice to heads of MDAs/MMDAs and employees on the mechanized payroll that salaries for January 2015 has been paid.
