Do not abuse teachers, education service warns

Jacob Kor relayed that the recent closure of the Fawoman Primary and Junior High School in the Ashanti Region resulted from an unjust behaviors of some angry parents who struck the headmaster in the head with a stick.

Ghana Education Service has cautioned it will not hesitate to bring appropriate disciplinary proceedings against members of communities who physically abuse teachers in their role of nurturing the pupils to be good leaders of this country.

Acting Director-General, Jacob Kor relayed that the recent closure of the Fawoman Primary and Junior High School in the Ashanti Region resulted from an unjust behaviors of some angry parents who struck the headmaster in the head with a stick.

The headmaster of the school recounted that the student was a habitual latecomers and performed poorly in examinations.

Mr. Kor added that the local branch of Ghana National Association intervened to resolve the litigation out of court.

He pleaded with parents to help their wards at home to develop their natural interests as a supplementary activity to formal education in the classroom instead of attacking teachers for instilling discipline in the pupils.

He added the latest position of Ghana on the OECD should strive all the stakeholders in Education to wake to the call to meet the world’s standards.
