The funeral of Alhaji Adams Mahama, former Upper East regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party is underway.
Alhaji Adams was attacked with acid on Wednesday evening and was confirmed dead at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital on Thursday morning.
Flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo is currently at the at the funeral grounds. He cut short his 16-day Europe tour over the sudden death of the NPP chairman.
However, reports suggest that the party’s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong and Chairman, Paul Afoko are absent from the funeral.
Some aggrieved youth of the party yesterday threatened mayhem if the two show up for the funeral.
The threat was issued when Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia led a delegation to the residence of the late regional chairman on Friday ahead of the funeral.
“We have given a list of some members of this family that we would not want to see them here tomorrow – It is not a mere saying. You are hearing people saying they don’t want to see the National Chairman and the General Secretary here. It is not a joke,” leader of the youth cautioned.
The irate youth believe Mr. Afoko and Mr. Agyepong are behind the acid attack on the Upper East Regional chairman, Alhaji Adams Mahama of the party which led to his death.
