Ex-President Kufour advises 22 year old MP aspirant

Ms. Oteng-Mensah polled 331 votes to beat incumbent Kofi Frempong who managed 189 in the just ended NPP parliamentary primaries.

Former president John Kufuor has urged 22-year-old parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Kwabre East constituency, Francisca Oteng-Mensah to read more about ex-British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher.

He made these comments when Ms. Oteng-Mensah paid a courtesy call on him at his residence.

According to him, the second year law student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) will be inspired and guided if she reads about ‘the Iron Lady’ Margaret Thatcher. He explained that Thatcher’s early political career is similar to Ms. Oteng-Mensah’s.“I will urge you to read, if you haven’t about the life history of Margaret Thatcher. She also graduated from the University at such a young age and her father, just as your father is pushing you and it was in her twenties that she tried entering parliament.“She was unlucky to lose her first attempt but you have been able to clinch a ticket, yet she soldiered on [and] entered on her next attempt and in the history of world politics, everyone knows about Margaret Thatcher now as the ‘Iron Lady’ of Politics,” the ex-president advised. He added: “Kwabre is my constituency and it is encouraging to hear news of your election to lead the people.”Ms. Oteng-Mensah polled 331 votes to beat incumbent Kofi Frempong who managed 189 in the just ended NPP parliamentary primaries. The other candidates Osei Poku, a lawyer, got 202 and K. Adjei- Sefa had 33 votes.
