Mahama’s gift 180 degrees apart from Judges' gift – Omane Boamah

Some media commentators have likened a car gift received by president Mahama from a Burkinabe contractor to the one received by some high court judges in an expose by Ana Aremeyaw Anas.

Communications Minister Edward Omane Boamah has made a distinction between a gift received by president Mahama and the ones received by some high court judges which led to their suspension, saying they are ‘completely different.’

“I know in Manasseh’s promo, it indicated that something changed hands. If I juxtapose that, and I have hear people likened this to the issue of the judges and all…If you juxtapose the two, something changing hands in the two scenarios are completely different and at 180 degrees on the number line apart,” he said on Joy FM’s Newsfile on Saturday.

Some media commentators have likened a car gift received by president Mahama from a Burkinabe contractor to the one received by some high court judges in an exposé by Ana Aremeyaw Anas.

However, the communications minister emphasized that the two issues are completely different, stressing that president Mahama is “incorruptible.”

The President has come under attack for accepting a Ford Expedition vehicle from a Burkinabe contractor after the latter won the bid to construct the $650,000 Ghana Embassy Wall in the Burkina Faso capital, Ouagadougou.

The Minority in Parliament have given indications that they will begin an impeachment process against the President.

According to them, although there is a high possibility that their impeachment process will not materialize, they will do so in order for it to be recorded in history.

Some opposition political parties including the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) are also asking the President to resign from office following the exposé.

But Dr. Omane Boamah stressed saying, “our President is incorruptible, he is not corrupt and this mud will not stick on President John Dramani Mahama.”
