The entire community in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis has been submerged rendering all residents homeless following early Tuesday morning’s downpour in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis.
The rains which began around 4am Tuesday May 23, 2017, left most roads in the Metropolis impassable by both vehicles and pedestrians.

Most houses in areas including Nkotompo Effia-Kuma, Cocoa Villa, Takoradi and Ntakofo, Bakano and Bakakyir in Sekondi were submerged.

Few hours after the rains, the Metropolitan Chief Executive, Anthony K. K. Sam attributed the situation to the attitude of residents who dispose of rubbish indiscriminately.
He said residents prefer disposing off rubbish in gutters which eventually blocks the passage and free flow of water during the rains.
Mr. Sam said the Assembly is however devising ways and means to prevent flooding and its effects on residents
