Take advantage of Fishermen Life Insurance policy - Sherry Ayittey
Under the policy, the Government will pay the premium for the fishermen. Madam Sherry Ayittey gave the advice during a meeting with Fisher folks drawn from the Nzema East Municipality, Ellembelle and Jomoro Districts.

The meeting held at the AYA Elderly Care and Recreational Center at Ampain on Wednesday, was to enable the Minister to interact and discuss some operational challenges of fishing in the various water bodies.
The Ministry also presented aluminium pans and wire mesh to fishmongers to help in their fishing processing activities.
According to the Minister, the Fishermen Life Insurance Scheme was piloted between January and April this year and some boat owners and crew members in the Greater Accra, Western, Central, Eastern, Bring Ahafo, Northern and Volta Regions have already been insured.

Madam Ayittey debunked assertions that the insurance policy was a ploy to tax fishermen who registered under the scheme.
