Yamoah Ponko sacked as Ejisu Juaben MCE

Kweku Afrifa Yamoah Ponko, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ejisu Juaben municipality in the Ashanti Region has been sacked.

A letter dated July 8, 2015, signed by Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Collins Dauda, asked the Regional Coordinating Council chaired by the Regional Minister, Peter Anarfi, to take over the running of the Municipal until a new MCE is appointed.

Yamoah Ponko was appointed by the late John Evans Atta Mills  as MCE on May 29, 2011 and sacked by President Mahama in July 5, 2015.

On 27 June, 2015, President John Mahama asked three Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) from the Western Region to step aside.

They include, Jomoro DCE, Sylvester D. Nuamah, Takoradi MCE, Captain Anthony Cudjoe and Tarkwa MCE, Mrs Christiana Cobbinah.

According to a statement from the Presidency, President Mahama took the decision “based on Article 243 and 246 of the 1992 Constitution.”
