Tsatsu Tsikata sues KT Hammond for defamation

Mr. Tsikata has challenged Mr. Hammond to justify his claims in the court of law.

Former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Tsatsu Tsikata has filed a writ in the High Court against the Member of Parliament (MP) for Adansi Asokwa, Mr K.T. Hammond for defamation.

In a statement, the former GNPC boss said the writ was filed following KT Hammond's false claims in a radio interview that he [Tsikata] had been paid some entitlements .

Mr. Tsikata explained that after 12 years of service at GNPC, no salary payments during the period he was on leave in 2001 were made to him and also, no end of service benefits of any sort were ever paid.

Again, his entitlements to the Provident Fund were never paid – not even his own contributions.

According to him, a letter he wrote to the Chairman of the Board of Directors at the time was not answered.

He has thus challenged Mr. Hammond to justify his claims in the court of law and the "other false and defamatory statements he has been making against me.”
