This comes after a statement from the Electricity Company of Ghana indicated that 530MW load is going to be shed today
The Power Ministry has been explaining the reason behind the intensified load shedding.
This comes after a statement from the Electricity Company of Ghana indicated that 530MW load is going to be shed today.
“ECG is to undertake 530MW load relief between 18:00hrs and 06:00hrs due to insufficient power generation.”
A statement signed by Kwaku Sersah –Johnson explaining this development said “the current increase in the quantum of load shedding in the country has come about as a result of a shutdown of Ghana National Gas company limited (Ghana Gas) at Atuabo to enable the African Middle East Investment (AMERI) power plant to be connected unto the gas supply system of Ghana Gas.
The AMERI plant is expected to add 250 megawatts into the national interconnected transmission system when fully operation.
Ghana has been battling with poor power supply for almost four years now,
Karpower barge is expected in the coming days to add an additional 225 megawatts in a bit to ameliorate the problem.
