NDC man describes #Dumsor vigil as an all-night prayer session

A member of the NDC has described the celebrities dumsor vigil as an all-night prayer session.

 

The Deputy Communications Officer of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Fred Agbenyo has described the intended vigil to be staged by some celebrities in Ghana as “an all-night prayer session”.

According to him, “I see this only as an all-night prayer session which I would gladly join”.

The vigil dubbed #DumorMustStop led by the Best International Act (Africa) rapper Sarkodie and actresses Yvonne Nelson and Lydia Forson as a deliberate attempt to pressurize the government to resolve the about four year old power crisis.

There were controversies about the vigil as it coincided with Ga traditional festival, Homowo but the La Traditional Council through the Chief Priest , Nuumo Yemoh Obroni VII has however given the go ahead for the vigil.

Mr. Agbenyo, however, said Ghana is a democratic country and every individual can exercised his or her fundamental rights under the constitution of Ghana. He emphasized that the vigil will not affect government decisions and urged his party members to believe in the vision of the NDC.

Meanwhile, Counsel for the celebrities, Kofi Benstil and Nana Awuah will meet the police to decide on the next step for the vigil.
