Doctor jailed for sodomy now lectures in prison

The medical doctor was spotted last Friday at the newly built JHS block at the Nsawam Prison imparting his knowledge in the sciences to his fellow inmates who have enrolled in the prison's school.

Incarcerated gay man Dr. Ali Gabass has found love in teaching and sharing knowledge with fellow inmates in prison at Nsawam.

This was when the Chief Justice Georgina Theodora Wood and other officials of the judiciary visited the prison for the Justice for all program.

Dr Gabass told Accra-based Starr FM that he feels fulfilled in his newly found love in teaching.

The prison education program was introduced in 2007 and began in 2008 under the sponsorship of the United Nations Development Programme and the Presidential Initiative on Distance Learning.

Background of Dr Ali’s case

An Accra circuit sentenced the medical doctor to 25 years imprisonment for defiling a child under 16 years in 2015.

He is alleged to have had unnatural carnal knowledge of the victim aged 15 in the months of October 2013 and April 2014 at Kasoa and Alajo in the process infecting him with the deadly HIV disease.
