A customer of the embattled microfinance company DKM has allegedly died after he was shocked by the paltry sum given him as his repayment package on Monday (October 17).
This was confirmed to Accra-based Kasapa FM by the Leader of the Concerned Customers of DKM and Other Microfinance Companies, Maxwell Mahama.
He said the deceased who was known as Micky Enterprise invested GHC 600,000 with Microfinance Company only to receive GHC 3,500 as compensation.

Maxwell Mahama expressed fear that many more people may die if they are not given a befitting compensation for all their lost investments.
Most customers who have received their compensation have threatened a court action. They argue that the compensation is not equivalent to what they invested.

DKM Microfinance was one of the rogue microfinance companies who squandered the deposits of their customers. DKM alone reportedly owed about GHC70 million in unpaid deposits.
The Central Bank subsequently decided to liquidate assets of the company to help pay them to compensate the customers.
