Chamber of Mines donates GH2m towards Ghana at 60 celebrations

The cheque was presented to the Chief of Staff by the president of the chamber, Kwame Addo Kufuor, on behalf of the entire membership of the Chamber.

Mr Addo Kufuor said: “A few weeks ago, His Excellency launched the Planning Committee of Ghana 60 Years On and made a specific appeal for support especially from the private sector.

"The chamber is: cognisant of the pivotal role we play in the Ghanaian economy we are the leading export earner, we are the top tax payer and we play a very important role in the local communities.

"But we aspire to do even more and we aspire to partner government in the development of this country. And, therefore, on such a joyous occasion, Ghana 60 Years On, we cannot sit aside and not play our role.

"So we are stepping up to the plate and showing our readiness to partner government in supporting the anniversary.

"We have here a cheque from our membership – AngloGold Ashanti, Newmont Ghana, Gold Fields, Chirano, Perseus Mining…and our affiliates and contractors. We have come together to support the celebration and to pray that God bless Ghana on its 60th anniversary."
