Bring on board professional policing - LMVC to new IGP

The Convener of the Alliance further added the Acting IGP has a lot to demonstrate to Ghanaians ahead of Election 2016.

COP John Kudalor

Pressure Group, Let My Vote Count Alliance, has questioned the basis under which President Mahama appointed COP John Kudalor as the acting Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Speaking to Pulse.com.gh, Convener of the Alliance, David Asante said "This is a COP, under whose watch and supervision of civilians were brutalized. And he is on record of having justified the brutalities meted out to civilians. Is this a record or thank you package the President has given to him? Secondly, is it a commissioning into a greater responsibility with elections 2016 in sight; for a yeoman job done, go and secure another victory for me through brutalising civilians?" Is that really what the appointment is about.

"Or the other question also is whether professional policing is what the president did see in him and he is going to deliver", David Asante asked.

"I'm sure as the days go by, moving up to the crucial election like election 2016, Ghanaians will live to see the product of his appointment. We hope and wait patiently that professional policing is what COP Kudalor will bring unto the table as we go into serious and crucial election into 2016," he added.

President John Mahama on Monday appointed COP John Kudalor as acting Inspector General of Police.

The President, as per the Constitution, appoints the IGP in consultation with the Vice President who chairs the Police Council.

The IGP, Mohammed Alhassan, begins his accumulated leave prior to retirement.
