Residents of Apire near Santasi in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region are sitting on a time bomb as a bridge linking the town to other communities has become a death trap.

Report indicates that the massive structural defects in the bridge constructed over the Danyame stream about eight years ago have forced motorists to use a narrow strip on one side of the road, with a gaping gully on the other side.

Torrential rain in Kumasi last week Thursday rendered several people homeless, whilst others sustained several injuries, including one reported casualty.

About 4-hour downpour in several part of the city including; Asafo, Adum, Asawase, Aboabo and Airport Roundabout once again exposed the poor drainage system in the Garden City.

Affected residents had to seek shelter in neighbours apartments, as flooding took over their houses, destroying several belongings.
