DCOP Quainoo added that “while we have the woman in police custody, we have also begun quizzing all persons in the neighborhood to ascertain the circumstances that led to the matter.

The Police in the western region have begun investigations into the circumstances that led to the 40 year old Naana allegedly poisoning her two daughters, Maame Serwah, 8 and Maame Fulba,6 to death on Sunday November 1 2015.

According to the western regional commander of the Ghana Police Service, DCOP Alex Quainoo, “Naana, after a court order is sought will be sent to the Ankaful Psychiatric Hospital in Cape Coast to establish or disproof her alleged mental derailed state”.

“Quickly the police went to the scene and found the two girls lying dead with foam squeezing out of their mouth. According to a welder nearby, he narrated to us that the woman in question called him to see what was happening in her room only to see the two kids dead”. DCOP Alex Quainoo said.

DCOP Quainoo added that “while we have the woman in police custody, we have also begun quizzing all persons in the neighborhood to ascertain the circumstances that led to the matter including the husband of Naana who for some reason is not staying in their matrimonial home”.

He however called on all persons to be each other’s keeper and report any unusual behavior to the police or any appropriate quarters for early action to be taken “because if it is true the woman is mentally unstable, what she did to her kids could have been done to anyone else in her neighborhood. The bodies of the two children have since been sent to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital Morgue pending autopsy.
