Police arrest man with 64 packs of Indian hemp

The Eastern Regional Police Command has seized 64 sacks of Indian hemp, which were allegedly being smuggled to Cote d' Ivoire from the Eastern region.

 

Briefing the media on Tuesday, the Eastern regional Crime officer, Chief Superintendent Edward Fakye-Kumi said the Police on Saturday, February 20, received information that a Benz bus with registration number AW 138-15 from Atimpoku towards Tema was having onboard suspected amount of Indian hemp.

Supt. Faakye-Kumi said after carrying out a search, “Our men were able to intercept 64 sacks and the sacks are filled with compressed slaps of suspected Indian hemp.”

He added that the driver of the Benz bus, 33-year-old Nicholas Asare was however arrested by the police, pending further investigations.
