The Northern regional minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna disclosed this at this year's international youth day celebration in Tamale.
The minister lamented the awful attitude of the youth in Tamale to work.
He said after insisting on the enforcement of the local content law in the Tamale project, many of the youth who were engaged did not live up to expectoration.
"We are talking about youth unemployment, yes it is true, but in our little way we try to see how we can engage you your attitudes are the problem." The minister complained
He also revealed that, some of workers have been sacked for laziness.
Government has always been criticized by citizens and civil society for not enforcing the local content law, but the Northern regional minister said this will continue to be a difficulty until the youth change their attitudes to work.
He also urged the local employees working on the airport project to desist from stealing fuel and cement from the construction site.
"Every dawn they bring four tipper trucks full of cement to a house at Lamakera.
"They normally open and carry them as sand, so that they go to that house and re-bag them. So I quickly called in the police and they went there and arrested them. Is that the kind of youth we need?" The minister asked.
