FIFA’s Jack Warner fights extradition to US, cites fear of being shot by racist cops

The soccer official accused of milking the American and worldwide sport of millions has declared 'the gloves are off' as he starts an all-out battle to avoid facing justice.

FIFA’s Jack Warner

Former FIFA vice president, Jack Warner, has mounted a legal challenge against his extradition to the US, arguing that “the colour of his skin will make him an open target in a country where law enforcement officials routinely abuse and harass blacks.”

In a statement to a court in his native Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Warner said: “In America you can’t be black and innocent. We have all seen the images of a white Police officer shamelessly manhandling a black teenage girl at a pool party. A black adult like myself stands no chance in such a country. I’ll not have a fair trial. I’ll be shot dead before I get to the courtroom.”

The images of a police officer manhandling and brandishing his weapon at a group of black teenagers at a pool party in McKinney, Texas is the latest incidence of racial abuse in a country where law enforcement officials abuse blacks with impunity.

Jack Warner who has been indicted in an FBI investigation into alleged corruption within Zurich-based FIFA, expressed concern over the FBI’s lack of interest in the murder of innocent black Americans. “FBI officials are quick to jump on a plane to Zurich to arrest FIFA officials but turn a blind eye to the continued abuse and murder of a a section of American citizens.”

“Maybe black lives don’t matter to them,” quipped the 72 year old football administrator.
