Ex-Workers extorts money from Patients

Prof Agyeman Badu Akosa, has accused some ex-workers of the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital for extorting huge sum amount of money from patients.

According to the former Director General of the Ghana Health Service, activities of some of the ex-workers serve as what he (Prof Akosa) called middlemen at the biggest health post.

Speaking at a book launch in Accra, he said some staffs in Korle-Bu who have retired have turned themselves into middlemen duping money from patients who visit the hospital on daily basis.

He stressed that some of the former employees don’t work in the hospital but dress as staffs.

Prof Akosa added that “ They do that to us in the mortuary, they do that to us in the wards, and they do that in the theatre and because they know everybody, somehow they can make you jump the queue. They might help you do so many things, but for everything they do, you will pay”.
