Korle-Bu fires KOSSA president

The decision was taken upon recommendations by the institution’s Disciplinary Committee, and the termination of appointment takes effect from April 6, 2016.

A letter addressed to Offei-Palm and signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Korle Bu, Dr. Gilbert Buckle, has instructed him to “handover any property of the hospital in his possession to his immediate supervisor".

Charles Offei-Palm was barred in March by the management of the hospital for allegedly defying the hospital’s media policy by granting an interview to an Accra-based radio station, during which he made some offensive comments against the management.

He was later referred to the hospital’s disciplinary committee.

His dismissal letter revealed, “following your interdiction and non-appearance for disciplinary hearing, the Disciplinary Committee has proceeded in your absence and found you guilty of the offences leveled against you as per your interdiction letter. Upon the recommendations of the Disciplinary Committee, your appointment with the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is terminated with effect from 6th April, 2016.”

The letter also noted that Mr. Offei-Palm will receive one month pay, in lieu of notice which will be paid to him at the end of April.

“You have 3 months, with effect from the date of your termination, to vacate your official accommodation and hand over the keys to the Head of Estates,” the letter said.
