Ghana runs out of kits for testing bird flu

The government’s attempt to curb the spread of the deadly virus has now hit a snag due to the shortage of chemicals for detecting the flu.

It seems Ghana may be losing the fight against eradication of bird flu.

Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Mrs Hannah Bissiw, has revealed that the Health Ministry has run out of the necessary chemicals for testing for bird flu

The government’s attempt to curb the spread of the deadly virus has now hit a snag due to the shortage of chemicals for detecting the flu.The minister in briefing the country's parliament on Thursday urged all farmers to stay calm as government is still on track to resolve the panic and fear of the flu hanging over Ghanaians.“Currently, we have run out of the agents to do further tests on the birds that we may be receiving from the various farms. But we are ready as a ministry to move to the field, the surveillance is still on and we will continue to supervise,” she stated.
