The motion was on the need for government at all levels to make adequate security arrangements for the protection of students in primary and secondary schools.

The lawmaker said the incident could have been prevented if adequate security measures were in place.

Balogun, who commended measures taken by some private schools in ensuring the security and safety of students in their schools, also urged public primary and secondary schools to do same.

The House, therefore, urged security agencies to setup a special task force in collaboration with the ministry of education to ensure comprehensive and effective security surveillance in primary and secondary schools across the country.

The house also advised that the collaboration should be extended to the parent teacher association.

Adopting the motion, the House in addition, called on the Federal Government to provide one free meal a day for children in primary and secondary schools across the country.
