One person has reportedly died after being shot during a demonstration at Akyem Akooko, a community located between Suhum and Kyebi in the Eastern region after violent clashes Tuesday afternoon.
According to reports, six others including some police officers are reported to have sustained injuries and have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The residents embarked on demonstration Tuesday morning to register their displeasure against the presence of a fetish priest in the area.
The people claimed the fetish priest known as Nana Saka, has been engaging in money rituals for people and also suspected of using humans for the rituals.
Reports also indicates that the demonstrators took the exercise to the shrine of the fetish priest and burnt down the place.
This infuriated followers of the fetish priest who fired gunshots into the demonstrating crowd.
Four persons have been arrested by the police in connection with the violence.
