The matter was later reported to the police which led to the arrest of both Obinim and his junior pastors. The Pastor was charged with physical abuse, while the junior pastors were charged with abetment.

The pastor showed up in court on Thursday (January 26) for hearing of his case, however, the prosecutor, DSP George Amega was absent, leading to an adjournment of the case by Judge Abena Oppon Adjin Doku to February 17.

Obinim was not pleased with the outcome and made his thoughts known while addressing the media.

“Every week, the girl (one of the victims of his abuse) goes for anti-natal care at the hospital and me the one taking care of her is being toyed with in court,” a visibly frustrated Obinim fumed.

“Even the judge is not happy with what is going on, it is even disrespectful for me as a Bishop to be in court. I have a discerning spirit I see the Judge is not happy to see me in court.

“Some Judges are even shocked to know that while I’m being prosecuted I’m still keeping the children. The foolishness being exhibited in this case is too much.”
