16 suspects granted bail

Ten people have died with several injured following Thursday's renewed chieftaincy clashes in the Northern regional town of Bimbilla.

They were fined GHC1000 with one surety and are supposed to reappear on February 27, 2017.

There were gunfire exchanges in the town on Thursday, February 9, 2017, following the installation of a new sub-chief.

Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Ebenezer Tetteh said a joint security force comprising police and military men have been deployed to the area to forestall any disturbance.

The Ministry of Interior has also reviewed the curfew on the town to between the hours of 4 pm and 6 am.

Schools have since been closed down following the clashes.

The Police has, however, revealed that calm has been restored to the area.
