Brown, who had just graduated from Normandy High School, was due to resume at Vatterott College. His mother, Lesley McSpadden, said he was on his way to his grandmother's house when he was killed.

The incident, which has led to widespread protests in the country,  is reminiscent of the February 2012 killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman.
