"We need to create more 'Anas' for public accountability"

He was speaking at the opening ceremony of a novel investigative training workshop for practitioners in Ghana and the West Africa Sub-Region.

 

“We need to create more Anas, but it is not just about me. It is about creating and training more people who are united by a common goal of promoting public accountability, anti-corruption, human rights, and fostering democratic governance not only in Ghana, but also in the West Africa Sub-Region”, Anas said.

The workshop, which is under the theme “Investigative Journalism: From Exposure to Punitive Action” is being organised by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, Chief Executive Officer of Tiger Eye PI Media (Tiger Eye) and the US-based research and education think tank, Africa Center for International Law and Accountability (ACILA).

The key objective of the training programme is to enhance the capacity of participants in investigative reporting in order to provide accurate and reliable information to the public.

It is also to promote accountability and transparency, contribute to good governance, rule of law, anti-corruption, and human rights.

Thirty participants have been selected through a competitive application process and will be in training for three days.

They will also be given a field investigative journalism assignment which they are to complete in one month and return for a review, publication, and certification.
