He said the u-turn by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the policy vehemently kicked against confirms public perception about them being ‘pathological lairs’.

NDC’s Pathological Lies Is Making Politicians Unpopular
Director of Communications for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Nana Akomea, says he is not surprised about decisions by government to implement the free Senior High School (SHS) policy in 2015.

The free SHS became very popular in the 2008 and 2012 elections with the NPP promising to implement the policy if elected into power but the NDC kicked against the policy, arguing that it was a utopian promise just to win power.
The ruling party rather promised to improve upon quality and access if retained in power.
Early this week, the Deputy Education Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on the floor of Parliament announced that a total of 365,000 students will benefit from the progressive free SHS policy.

He said is a demonstration of President Mahama’s does not engage in "wishful thinking" when he announced the policy in his state of the nation address to Parliament early in the year.
Okudzeto Ablakwa however denied the NDC promising to build 50 SHS schools every year out of the 200 it promised in four years to improve access. But Nana Akomea on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme hosted by Kwadwo Asare Barfour Acheampong (KABA) on Tuesday said the NPP is happy the NDC has finally seen the light.
He could not fathom why a social democratic party will kick against a policy meant to improve the lives of the downtrodden in society.
The NPP Director of Communications said the continuous lies of the NDC give credence to public perception that politicians are lairs.
“The NDC consciously lie just to win political power but it is affecting the integrity and credibility of honest politicians ready to serve their nation” he bemoaned.

Nana Akomea said the NPP feels vindicated and hopes the announcement by government is not a political gimmick.
