Hundreds of supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) besieged the party’s head office in Accra calling on the National Executive Committee (NEC) to rescind its decision to allow women contest women in constituencies with women sitting Members of Parliament.

The party in a statement said, none of its 16 incumbent female MPs should be contested by men in the primaries scheduled for May this year.

This move by NEC angered the supporters to demonstrate against the leadership and the entire executives of the party.

The leadership however asked the supporters to calm down while they forward the petition to the appropriate quarters for redress.
