Demolition of houses on waterways begins at Mile 7

Experts have expressed the view that building of houses on waterway is a major cause of flooding in Accra.

Information reaching Pulse.com.gh indicates that a demolition exercise is being carried out at Mile 7-Achimota in Accra.

The demolition is being carried out by Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of GA West Municipal Assembly, Mr. AttorquayeQuaye.

Hundreds of residents have been displaced as the assembly demolished houses allegedly built on waterways.

A yet to be completed filling station in the area very close to the demolished Washing bay according to sources has also been earmarked to be demolished.

The demolition exercise is expected to move on to other parts of the municipality including Ofankor and Amansaman.
