Former Joy FM presenter, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has expressed gratitude to delegates in the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency for electing him as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate for the 2016 parliamentary election.

The ace journalist polled an overwhelming 218 votes to beat his closest contender John Obiri Yeboah who polled 114, while Bright Asamoah Acquah managed a paltry 58.

In a statement released on Sunday, Kojo called on all to unite in order to improve the party’s “fortunes in December 2016 and thereby take Nana Akuffo Addo to the Flagstaff house.”

Below is the full statement:

Hello

Yesterday, delegates of the NPP in the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency elected me as the Party’s candidate for the 2016 parliamentary election.

After a focussed 1 month campaign during which we marketed our 5 point plan for growth, this was the outcome we expected. My team and I are grateful to every delegate who participated in the election regardless of who you voted for.

We are also grateful to my two co-contestants for a spirited campaign. Now that all this is behind us, let us look to the bigger job ahead.

Our common objective as true patriots should be to improve our party’s fortunes in December 2016 and thereby take Nana Akuffo Addo to the Flagstaff house.

This is the task to which I commit myself and the task I believe we can fulfill working together.

Together we can.

So let’s get to work again.

God bless.
