Ga Traditional Council ban on noise making takes effect today

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) which is enforcing the ban has called on residents in Accra to comply with the directive during the stipulated period.

The ban is to pave way for the celebration of Homowo; the festival of the Ga people.

During this period, churches and other religious bodies are to ensure they make minimal noise. They must ensure the noise is within their confinement during the period.

In a statement, the AMA said: “Roadside evangelists are to cease their activities during this period”.

“Apart from an identifiable task force which consists of AMA personnel, the Police Service and representative from the traditional councils with tags, no other person or group of persons should be seen or found enforcing the abatement of noise in the metropolis,” the statement noted.

The ban will be lifted on June 8, 2017.
