NPP cautions party communicators over Upper East Regional chairman’s attack

According to Adama Mahama’s aide, Zakariah Osman, the NPP chairman was in his car when he was stopped by two unidentified persons, and in an attempt to inquire the reason why he was stopped, they poured the substance on him

 

The New patriotic Party has asked party communicators to be mindful of what they say about Adama Mahama’s attack.

Two men poured acid on the Upper East regional chairman of the party when he was returning from his construction site late in the night.

According to Adama Mahama’s aide, Zakariah Osman, the NPP chairman was in his car when he was stopped by two unidentified persons, and in an attempt to inquire the reason why he was stopped, they poured the substance on him.

The regional chairman was rushed to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital where he is currently being treated.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Communication’s Director of NPP, Nana Akomea said the party is waiting for the police to conclude investigations before making an official statement. He however condemned the act.

“The attack is serious and very regrettable. His life is the most important thing for now so we are making arrangements to bring him to 37 military hospital or Korle Bu for treatment. Party communicators should be careful of what they say about the issue. Let the police do their investigations after which we will make official communication”, he noted.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Upper East Regional Police ASP Thomas Agbanyo, the attack was very severe.

"The seats of his pick-up have all been torn by the acid. He was showered with the acid, from the head through the face to the body and all parts."

One person has so far been arrested in connection with the attack.
