A younger brother of the New Patriotic Party's national chairman, Paul Afoko has been named as one of the two assailants who poured acid on the Upper East Regional chairman of the party leading to his death.

Adam had been fighting for his life in the hospital after two assailants stopped his car whilst he was about entering his house midnight on Wednesday and poured the corrosive substance on his face and entire body.

The chairman was returning from his construction site late in the night when the two unknown men stopped him.

Speaking on Adom FM’s morning show ‘Dwaso Nsem’, an aide to the late chairman, OsmanZakaria said the chairman, before he was sent to the hospital, named the younger brother of Paul Afoko as one of the attackers.

According to him, Paul Afoko’s brother undertook the gruesome act with one Afakpa who is also said to be a member of the NPP.

“He named him, the younger brother of Afoko and Afakpa as the persons and indicated further that if he dies, we should bury him in his village and also take care of his children…,” he said.

He added that Paul Afoko's younger brother has formed a group to protect him anytime he visits the Upper East region.

Meanwhile, Paul Afoko has denied reports that his younger brother, Gregory Afoko was at the centre of the acid attack.

He said that his checks from his home in the Upper East region indicated that his brother was asleep at the time the incident happened.
