Man slashed to death in fight over GH¢2

The accused is said to have asked the deceased, Gamado for GH¢2 but the two had a misunderstanding which resulted in a fight between them.

An Accra Magistrate Court has remanded a labourer in custody following the death of one David Gamado at Ablekuma-Olebu, a suburb of Accra.

The labourer, named Azumah Yankah is said to have asked the deceased, Gamado for GH¢2 but the two had a misunderstanding which resulted in a fight between them.

The two were separated but Yankah entered a house close to the scene and brought out two machetes to attack Gamado but he was conquered and one of the machetes was taken from him.

But Yankah reportedly used the other machete to slash the left hand of Gamado which resulted in a deep wound on his arm, causing him to bleed profusely.

He was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Victor Dosoo, told the court that residents attacked and assaulted Yankah following the incident. Police later found him lying unconscious with blood oozing from his nose and ears.

Chief Inspector Dosoo said Yankah was taken to the Police Hospital for treatment and was discharged on April 25, 2017.

He said the case is still under investigation.

The court adjourned the case to May 19, 2017.
