Bawumia mocks Mahama's govt as 'competent' [2nd Dec 2015]

Running mate of the NPP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia says president Mahama is competent at mismanaging the Ghanaian economy. He was speaking today in response to the 2016 budget statement presented by government in November. He also says the Karpower deal does not make sense as it would have cost Ghana 225 million dollars to buy the barge as against the 1 billion dollar expenditure which will be made over the period of ten year the barge will be in Ghana. He also criticized government for the small budget allocation to the Agric sector and warned of food shortage as fish and meat production has not improved.

Power generation from the Akosombo Dam is ex­pected to drop from the current 520 megawatts to 390 megawatts due to a drop in water level. According to report by the Finder Newspaper, the Volta River Authority (VRA) plans to shut down one out of the four turbines before the end of this month. This will result in the loss of 130MW.

The Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists ' Association (GJA), has passed a vote of no confidence in Listowell Yesu Bukarson, who happened to be the chairman of the chapter.He has been accused among other things of tainting himself politically when he contested in the NPP primaries.

Ghanaian footballer and Swansea City player Andre Ayew has once again been nominated for the club’s player of the month award for the month of November. Andre Ayew went head to head with team mates Jonjo Shelvey and Neil Taylor for October’s award which the Black Stars vice-captain was named the eventual winner.
