After breaking his 10 year silence in music with Paapa, Rex Owusu Marfo popularly known in music circles as Rex Omar, says the song goes beyond Fathers’ Day celebration.

Paapa was not written for Fathers’ Day. Paapa is dealing with far much serious issues than only Fathers’ Day. And the Paapa that I am talking about is a figurative Paapa (father)… so I don’t want the song to be like an occasional Fathers’ Day song where it will be played on the day and that will be all till another year,” he said on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch on Monday.

He told show host Abrantepa that the song was a wake-up call to the Ghanaian whose way of doing things seems not to give hope to the future generation.

“Our attitude and behaviour is as if there is no tomorrow. Everybody wants to be rich overnight. The way we treat our lands, water bodies, our political discourse… everything we do is as if there is no future. There will be a new set of Ghanaians 200 years to come so I am saying that we are the fathers of the future generation. Therefore, we need to be disciplined,” he explained.

The song which was released a couple of days ago, has received positive feedbacks from music enthusiasts.
