Ghanaian music isn’t progressing due to a culture of imitation, according to R2Bees.

The award-winning musical group comprising of Mugeez and Paedae has shared their thoughts about the lack of improvement in their nation’s music.

The duo were interviewed at popular radio station, Starr FM, and they pointed to a number of ills within the Ghana music industry.

Mugeez and Paedae disclose that music is not growing in the West African nation because musicians engage in too much imitation and reproduction of content.

“Our music is not going anywhere because of too much photocopying and imitation. Some of the artistes singing dancehall cannot even speak the ‘patois’ well.” They said.

“You can’t sell Jamaica to the Jamaicans, let’s get our own identity and push the Ghanaian music industry forward,” the group added.

R2bees are currently promoting their new single ‘Makoma’, and they are currently on a media tour. Mugeez and Paedae are rated among the best music duos in Africa and praised for staying relevant and consistent in the music industry for a decade.
